Let's Bully A Christian for Christmas - A scathing attack on the sacking of a teacher for offering to pray for a sick pupil.
Let’s Bully a Christian at Christmas
Once upon a time there was a
school called, OakHillShortStaySchool
and Tuition Service North, which specialised educating short stay pupils.
One day one of the part-time teachers,
Mrs Jones, a Christian, recounted to the mother of one of her pupils she taught
at their home, and who suffered from long term illness; that she believed in
the power of prayer. She explained that
she was trapped under a tractor she had been driving, on the family farm in Wales,
when it had tipped over.
“I shut my eyes and thought I was going to die,”
she said. “Then there was a sound like a rushing wind, like that described in
the bible, and then total stillness.
“I was convinced it was a miracle. I shared my testimony to encourage my mother
to believe that there is a God who answers prayer. I believe I have a personal relationship with God,
who is a constant source of strength.”
Mrs Jones then asked the girl’s mother if
she would like her to pray for the girl. The mother declined the offer and complained to the school.
Mrs Jones was summoned to the head of the
unit, Kaye Palmer Greene and the Unit Co-ordinator Karen Robinson who more or
less took charge of the proceedings and who told her that discussing ‘faith
issues’ in the home of a pupil, could be construed as bullying. As Mrs Jones was not under contract her
services were no longer required.
After almost four years of working at the
school she was in effect sacked because of her Christian belief in the power of
prayer.A belief shared by the majority
of the English population. An offer to
pray for someone is not a threat nor is it intimidation, but an invitation.
Karen Robinson was right though; there was a
bully in the office, two of them, Karen Robinson and by her failure to defend
Mrs Jones right to voice her Christian beliefs, Kaye Palmer-Greene.
Mrs Jones says she does not
blame her ex-employers.I would remind her
of the biblical quotation, “Cast ye not pearls before swine.”
