Unfortunately for 14 year-old Sherry Austin, who at 5ft-10ins, towers over most of her classmates, the school’s delegated uniform stockist is unable to supply a skirt long enough to meet the headmaster’s required, above the knee length.

In desperation her parents bought her a longer navy blue skirt from, Asda, but that too failed to appease the school’s box ticking idiot of a headmaster, David New.

Sherry, like 200 of her fellow pupils, was ushered into an assembly hall, where, Mr. New warned them to adhere to its strict uniform code or find another school.

Now, I personally believe that a strict school uniform code aids self-respect and discipline, as do Sherry’s parents.

The school has responded to criticism over her harsh treatment, by saying, ‘We will never apologise for having high standards.’

From where I am standing, their ‘high standards’ are bog standard, if they allow a young girl, whose height makes it impossible for her to fully comply with the dress code, to be humiliated and intimidated, by their box ticking bureaucrat, of a Head.

May I suggest a solution: that David New, not Sherry Austin, finds himself another school, a school where no girl exceeds the height of 5ft-2ins, and where he can tick all his little boxes unchallenged.

I hate school bullies, especially when they are supposedly head-teachers.
